WOW! What a week it has been. Last week Andrew was diagnosed with R.S.V. It is not much more than a common cold for most folks, but for people who are elderly, have heart or lung problems, infants, and premature babies can go downhill extremely fast as we found out when Maci got it this week. She really scared me, breathing really hard and fast, coughing terribly, vomiting alot and not really responding to much interaction. Andrew did fairly good with it, only one trip to the ER. After three trips to the pediatrician in one day, and two breathing treatments, the doctor admitted her. She was only supposed to be in overnight, but on the second day we could not get her to eat anything. She developed a double ear infection there, but now is almost well. She has to continue with the inhaler, antibiotics, eye drops for pink eye. She was miserable and cranky, but now is back to the happy girl we know. She really loved her nurses and they thought she was so smart trying to talk every time she got mad, she kept screaming, "Ada, Ada" and, "ahny, ahny". She got up on her knees a couple of times trying to rock. She was a real trooper. Matthew, Aubrey, and Andrew came to visit. At one point, I took off her shirt to change it and left it off for a couple of minutes and Matthew noticed her chest (remember she is very chubby) and said, "Mom, Maci can feed you now." Then he got in her face and told her, "Yes, Maci, you can feed Mommy now." So cute. I never laughed so hard, but he did not mean to be funny. We came home on Christmas Eve, in the afternoon. Tomorrow (Christmas Day) we plan to just relax, cook, eat, and tell the Christmas Story to the kids. Hope you all have (had) a great Christmas!
